After repairing the Screven Motor Speedway facility lighting system, the track is now set to open for the 2012 season on May 19, 2012.  During the 2nd Annual Winter Freeze, it was discovered that there was an issue with the electricity at the track after blowing a transformer during night number two of the event.  After spending some time completely re-wiring the facility, track owner James "Redd" Griffin, says that he is ready to start the season on May 19, 2012.  Additionally, the 2012 season will see a reduction in racing divisions.  In 2012 the track will run:  Screven Late Models, Limited Sportsman, Renegade 4, and Super Streets. Renegade 4's will see an increase in the winner's purse to $300.

Racing on May 19, 2012 will feature:  Screven Late Models, Limited Sportsman, Renegade 4's with new increased payout of $300 to win, plus a $1,500 to win Southern Outlaw Super Street Series, the Florida and GA Mini Sprints.  For information on rules and payout for the Southern Outlaw Super Street Series, please visit their official website at www.southernoutlawdirt.com.  Rules and information on the other regular classes that will be running at Screven Motor Speedway can be found on the SMS website.
